Cellulite can seemingly hit anyone at any time after puberty though it is known that certain people are more likely to suffer from it than others. Although slim people can have cellulite, it appears as if weight gain exacerbates the problem. It is an issue that predominantly affects women with many choosing to go down the surgical route. However, this is expensive and can lead to scarring. Additionally, individuals with poor lymphatic circulation are not suitable candidates for surgery. Instead of spending money and time recovering from an operation, why not try one of the cellulite home remedies outlined below?
Apple Cider Vinegar
The accumulation of fat cells which leads to cellulite is intensified by the hormones estrogen and progesterone. As women have far more of these hormones than men, they are more likely to be hit with cellulite. It is believed by some that apple vinegar cider reduces the appearance of cellulite. Mix 30ml of the vinegar with 200ml of water and consume every morning. Alternatively, mix the vinegar with massage oil in a 3:1 ratio and rub into the skin twice a day.
Coffee Sugar Scrub
It is claimed that this home remedy speeds up the metabolism thus increasing your body’s fat burning ability while removing excess liquid from your skin. It involves mixing ground coffee with brown sugar in a 2:1 ratio. Rub olive oil on the areas of the skin affected by cellulite before rubbing the coffee sugar scrub mixture into the oil.
An herb called gotu kola is said to drain the fluid from cellulite fat cells. Forskolin is the herb’s active ingredient which is believed to break down the substances that hold the fat in place. An obesity research study is often cited as proof that forskolin works as in the study, it was mixed with aminophylline (a substance like caffeine) and women that used this combination lost an average of one inch of loose skin from their stomachs. It is important to note that this particular home remedy is expensive. Yet another supposed cellulite solution involves mixing coconut oil, line oil and grapefruit juice into your skin in a 6:2:1 ratio.
This concoction should be rubbed into your skin. Then ivy leaves are soaked in water for 30 minutes and drained into a bathtub. After applying the oil mixture with a hairskin glove, you need to have a soak in the bath of ivy leaf water for 15 minutes. Finish by massaging areas affected by cellulite with lemon or orange essential oil.
Some of these anti-cellulite home remedies may seem strange but thousands of people swear by them. If nothing else, they are worth a try if cellulite creams are proving ineffective and you don’t want surgery. As always, don’t expect dramatic results and don’t spend a fortune chasing a magical cellulite removal elixir.
